What is the Progress Overview?
Simpler logging is just the beginning. We're introducing a brand-new Progress tab—a dedicated space that turns your daily tracking information into meaningful weekly insights.
You'll see how your macro patterns are stacking up against your personal goals, where you're doing well, and where a little extra support could help. Along the way, you'll get dietitian-backed insights and actionable tips designed to help you improve week over week. Every log helps you learn more about what works for you, builds awareness, and gives you the confidence to adjust and keep going strong.
Where do I find the Progress Overview in the app?
The Progress tab lives in the app's navigation bar. Look for the Progress icon at the bottom of the screen, to the right of the plus (+) button, and tap it to open your weekly overview.
Who has access to the Progress Overview?
The Progress Overview is available to MyFitnessPal members on iOS/Android (version 26.16.0+) across the following countries: the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand who have their app set to English. Some features, including dietitian-backed insights and detailed macro suggestions, may be available only to Premium and Premium+ members.
How does the Progress Overview Work?
When you open the Progress tab, you'll see a snapshot of how your week is shaping up, pulled directly from what you've logged. The overview includes:
- Calories: A breakdown of your daily intake for the week compared to your calorie goal.
- Weight: A chart showing how your weight has changed over time, so you can spot trends and track momentum.
- Macros: A look at how your protein, carb, and fat intake lines up with your targets, plus actionable tips for improving each one; the latter is a Premium and Premium+ only feature.
- Reports: A deeper summary of your nutrition over time to help you understand your habits at a broader level.
Everything updates as you log, so the more consistently you track, the more useful your Progress view becomes.
What can the Progress Overview help me with?
The Progress Overview is designed to turn your daily logging into something you can actually learn from. Here's what it's great at:
- Seeing the full picture: "How did my calories look this week?", "Am I hitting my protein goal consistently?", "How has my weight trended this month?"
- Understanding your patterns: Spot where you're doing well and where small adjustments could make a difference without having to dig through individual diary entries.
- Staying motivated: Watching your progress build week after week gives you the context to keep going, even on imperfect days.
- Getting actionable guidance: Dietitian-backed insights and tips help you understand not just what your numbers say, but what to do about them.
What can the Progress Overview not do?
A few things worth knowing:
- The Progress Overview cannot log food for you. To add meals or foods, use the Diary, barcode scanner, Meal Scan, or Voice logging.
- The Progress Overview cannot change your goals. To update your calorie or macro targets, head to the Goals section in your settings.
- The Progress Overview is not a substitute for medical advice. If you have a medical condition or clinical nutrition needs, please speak with a registered dietitian or healthcare provider.
How do I get the best results from the Progress Overview?
- Log consistently. The Progress Overview is only as useful as the data behind it. The more you log, the more accurate and meaningful your weekly insights will be.
- Check in weekly. Make it a habit to review your Progress tab at the end of each week. Look for patterns, celebrate wins, and identify one or two things to focus on going forward.
- Use it alongside Coach. If something in your Progress view raises a question, like why your protein is consistently low, bring it to Coach for real-time suggestions on how to adjust.
- Don't stress about perfect days. Progress is built over time. A single off day matters a lot less than the trend you're building week over week.
