WHAT GOOGLE IS CHANGING

Google has announced that the underlying technology connecting apps like MyFitnessPal to Google Health (formerly Fitbit) will be shut down in October 2026 and replaced with a new system called the Google Health API.
Because this migration requires all existing integrations to move to Google's new authorization system, members who have Google Health (formerly Fitbit) connected to MyFitnessPal will need to reconnect the integration in order for data to continue syncing between the two programs.
Please note: Starting the week of September 28, 2026, Google will be sending communications to Google Health members about this change and the need to reauthorize partner apps linked to Google Health. No action is needed from you yet. Please wait for a prompt from MyFitnessPal (push notification and/or email) in mid-October before reconnecting. We'll share additional details on the timing in this article as soon as it's confirmed.
If you already disconnected and reconnected MyFitnessPal and Google Health after receiving Google's communication, please be aware that you will need to complete the reconnection again once you receive the prompt from MyFitnessPal. This second reconnection is what will ensure your data continues to sync after Google shuts down the Fitbit API at the end of October.
