This article explains what a MyFitnessPal Group is, the three member roles, and what members can do inside a Group.
Reaching a goal feels lighter when you're not doing it alone. That's exactly what MyFitnessPal Groups are built for.
A Group brings together members working toward a shared goal, whether that's weight loss, running, a specific diet, or a lifestyle change. Trade tips, cheer each other on, and find people who get it.
A MyFitnessPal Group is a community space centered on a shared interest or goal. Group members join discussions, share support, and help each other stay accountable.
Members help moderate each Group. A Group can be public, so any MyFitnessPal member can join right away, or private, so new members need approval to join.
Groups make it easier to find people who understand your journey. If you're looking for motivation, accountability, or just people who get it, a Group is a good place to start.
What you can do in a Group
- Join discussions about topics related to the Group's focus
- Share tips, experiences, and support with other members
- Ask questions and get feedback from people with similar goals
- Help build a community around a shared interest or journey
Group roles explained
Every Group has three roles: Group Owner, Group Leader, and Member. Each role has different permissions.
| Role | What they can do |
| Group Owner | Created the Group. Has the same permissions as a Leader. Owner status cannot be transferred or removed by other members. Only one person can hold this role per Group. The Owner can grant or remove Leader status at any time. |
| Group Leader | Has extra permissions to help manage the Group. Can approve join requests, edit Group settings, and manage posts. |
| Member | The standard role for Group participants. Can view content and join discussions. Joining a private Group requires approval from an Owner or Leader. Members don't have any management or moderation abilities. |
