This article introduces MyFitnessPal's Suggested Searches feature. As you type in the food search bar, you'll see ready-made search phrases that help you log food faster.
What are Suggested Searches?
Suggested Searches is a feature that helps you find foods faster by showing ready‑made search phrases as you type into the search bar. These suggestions are based on common, relevant queries, so you can tap once instead of typing the whole phrase.
Where do I find this feature?
This feature is available to all MyFitnessPal mobile app users with app version 23.3.0 or higher. The Suggested Searches feature is available on the Food Search screen. Currently, this functionality is only available for general food searches. It is not available for My Meals, My Recipes, or My Foods.
How does it work?
- Open the MyFitnessPal app, tap Add Food or Log on your Diary/Today page, or tap the Blue + button at the bottom of your screen to get to the food search page.
- Begin typing the name of a food into the search bar (for example, “Chicken breast” or “Greek yogurt”)
- As you type, a list of suggested search phrases will appear
- Tap a suggestion to run a full search using that phrase; you’ll then see matching foods you can log.
Suggested searches may show up underneath the items in your History on the search page, you can scroll past the historical items to see your suggested searches.
Tapping on a suggestion does not automatically log anything to your diary, it just helps you jump straight to a more precise search.
