What are Net Carbs?
Net carbs only count carbohydrates that are used for fuel and significantly impact your blood sugar levels.
Why track Net Carbs?
Monitoring net carb intake allows for more food choices on a restrictive, low-carb diet. Talk to your doctor or nutritionist if tracking Net Carbs is right for you.

Net Carbs = Total Carbs - Fibers - Sugar Alcohols*

How do I access Net Carbs Mode?
Our Premium users will have access to turn on Net Carb Mode from their app* Diary Settings. Turning on Net Carbs Mode will replace all references to Carbohydrates with Net Carbs. To join Premium, please see this article.
You can find Net Carbs Mode setting by following this link on mobile.
Apps:
- Open the Menu or More(...) menu
- Select Settings then Diary Settings
- Toggle Track Net Carbs on
*Net carbs is not currently available for our web or International users. However, if a user sets Net Carb goals through the App they will see the updated Net Carbs goals on the website under the Carbohydrates heading.
How do I set a Net Carbs Goal?
Your carbohydrate goal will be changed to Net Carbs. You can update this goal the same way you would any other macro.
Apps: Make sure you have Net Carbs Mode turned on
- Open the Menu or More(...) menu
- Select Goal
- Then Calories, Net Carbs, Protein, and Fat Goals
- Adjust your goals

How do I update my Diary to track Net Carbs?
First, make sure you have turned on Net Carbs Mode. Once Net Carb Mode has been turned on Carbohydrates will be replaced with Net Carbs.
Why can't I find Net Carbs Mode?
There are a few reasons you may not be able to access Net Carbs Mode:
You are not currently a Premium member
- You'll need an active Premium subscription to be able to use Net Carbs Mode. To join Premium, please see this article.
You are using an older version of the app
- Please check to make sure you are using the most up-to-date version of the app. Users may need to force close and reopen the app after updating.
- If you are still not seeing the feature, you may need to try reinstalling the app
- Before you reinstall, please log in to the website and make sure that all of your diary data has been saved
You are located outside of the US & Canada
- The iOS MyFitnessPal app should automatically adjust based on your profile's country setting to match local labels regarding how Carbs are listed. For regions that do not include Fiber in the Carbohydrates listed on the label, if the entry in the database lists the Fiber, it will be removed from the total carbohydrates, and the total will be listed as the Carbohydrates. Total Carbs will not be shown.
At this time, this calculation does not happen on MyFitnessPal.com or on the Android app. They will always include Fiber in the Carbohydrates.
