How do I delete a Group?

This article explains how to delete a MyFitnessPal group. It covers who can delete a group: only Staff members or Group Owners, as well as the steps to delete a group. You’ll also find information on how to contact staff for help with group deletion.

 

Only Staff members or Group Owners can delete a group. If you are a Group Leader or Group Member and need a group deleted, you can ask a Group Owner or a Staff member for help.

 

If you created a group that you'd like to delete:

Apps:

  1. Open the MyFitnessPal app
  2. Tap on the More menu
  3. Scroll down and select Community
  4. Look for the menu with three horizontal lines in the top left corner and tap it
  5. Next, tap on Groups
  6. In the Groups section, select the group you want to delete
  7. When the group opens, tap Options
  8. Then tap Delete Group

  1. Visit our website at www.myfitnesspal.com
  2. Log in to your account. If you use the mobile app, log in with the same email and password you use there
  3. Click the Community tab
  4. Next, select Groups
  5. In the Groups section, select the group you want to delete
  6. When the group opens, click Options
  7. Then click Delete Group

 

General information about group roles:

Each group has three different roles: Group Owner, Leader(s), and Members.
  • Group Owner: The owner is the person who created the group. They have the same permissions as a Leader, but their status cannot be removed by others. Only one person can own a group, and this cannot be changed or transferred after setup. The owner can add or remove group leader status at any time, and can approve or remove members whenever needed.
  • Group Leader: Leaders are members who have extra permissions to help manage a group. They can manage members, approve join requests, edit group settings, and manage posts within that group.
  • Member: This is the standard role for users in the community. In a group, members can access content and join discussions. For private or secret groups, a leader or owner must approve their request to join or invite them. Members do not have any management or moderation abilities in the group.
