Yes, you may be able to use your FSA or HSA account to pay for Premium or Premium+ if you’re using MyFitnessPal in connection with treatment for a disease diagnosed by a physician. You can determine if you are eligible via our partnership with Truemed.
How do I sign up?
Visit this page to learn more about and sign up for Premium. When selecting your method of payment, select the FSA/HSA option. Our partner Truemed will review your information and provide Letter of Medical Necessity if you qualify (typically within 2-5 days).
Currently, using your HSA or FSA to pay for your subscription is only available on MyFitnessPal.com and not through the iOS or Android app
What subscriptions are available?
You are able to select from Premium and Premium+ with either an annual or monthly renewal. Please see our Premium+ recap to see what tier best fits your needs.
Please note, free trials are not available when using this payment method. Your subscription will begin upon signup.
What info do I need to provide?
Truemed’s intake process will help determine whether you’re eligible. During checkout, you’ll complete a brief questionnaire. If you’re initially approved, you’ll be asked to provide your HSA/FSA card details or another form of payment to be reimbursed.
Final approval normally only takes a few days.
Do I have to wait for approval before I can start using Premium features?
Nope! You’ll be granted full access to Premium or Premium+ features immediately following pre-approval from Truemed. You will be billed when we hear from Truemed that your application has been approved.
What if I don’t get approved?
You’ll still have access to Premium or Premium+ features for 7 days from when you first signed up. You’ll retain everything that you’ve saved or logged on your Premium but some settings might reset if they are tied to Premium features. Your history, streak, and Meals/Recipes will be right where you left them. You are welcome to sign back up for Premium or Premium+ after the 7 days are up using another payment method if you decide that is what is best for you.
MyFitnessPal will not have information about why your application was rejected.
What about renewals?
If you have successfully used your HSA or FSA for payment for a subscription and it is up for renewal, Truemed will reach out to you about a month before your annual renewal to determine whether you still qualify. If you are approved again and the funds are available in the associated FSA or HSA payment method on file, your subscription will renew. You only have to determine whether you qualify once a year, even if you have a monthly subscription.
You can cancel your renewal at any time via your Premium subscription settings. You will be canceling the next renewal and will have access to the Premium or Premium+ features until the end of the current billing cycle.
What if I have a subscription already?
At this time we do not have a way to change your subscription’s method of payment mid-cycle. To start paying for your Premium+ or Premium subscription with FSA or HSA, you’ll need to cancel your subscription. You’ll be able to apply to use your FSA or HSA at the beginning of the following subscription period. You’ll retain everything that you’ve saved or logged on your Premium account even while Premium is not active. Some settings might reset if they are tied to Premium features but your history, streak, and Meals/Recipes will be right where you left them.
