This article covers a MyFitnessPal system limitation: users need to visit the Community pages on the website or app before a group owner can invite them to a group. It also gives step-by-step instructions for invited friends on how to access the Community feature in both the app and on the web.
There is currently a limitation in our system where users who haven't visited the community pages do not appear for group owners to invite.
To help your friend join, ask them to click the community tab on the website or in the iOS or Android app. You can send them this info and a link to your group in a private message. For private groups, we recommend using a private message.
Share these instructions to your friend:
Apps:
- Open the MyFitnessPal app
- Tap on the More menu
- Scroll down and select Community
- After clicking the community, your friend can now invite you to their group.
Web:
- Visit our website at www.myfitnesspal.com
- Log in to your account. If you use the mobile app, log in with the same email and password you use there
- Click the Community tab
- After clicking the community, your friend can now invite you to their group.
Please note that group invitations do not appear in your main MyFitnessPal notifications. Instead, you can find them in the community notifications under the bell icon on the community pages.
