To add food to your diary, simply take the following steps:
On the Web
- Click on the "Food" tab, then click "Add Food" under the meal you'd like to log.
In our latest iOS and Android Apps
- You can search for a food to add to your Diary by tapping the blue add button (+) and then tapping the method of logging that works best for you in the moment. *Available options vary based on app version or require a MyFitnessPal Premium subscription.
- Read on to learn more about the option to Log Food or check out our articles on Barcode Scan, Voice Log, or Meal Scan.
To search for food, tap the meal selector at the top of the page and then type the food name in the search field. You can enter brand names or just keywords. Then, tap the "Search" button. Tap on Plus to the right of the result if you see one that already matches the serving you were looking for. This will log it directly to your Diary.
Or tap on the item itself to bring up full nutritional information. Here you can adjust the serving size and/or number of servings, the meal it's to be logged under, and Premium subscribers can set a Timestamp or log the food for multiple days at once. Tap the checkmark at the top to add it to your Diary.
That’s it. Your food will be logged in your diary. Repeat as needed.
Pro Tip: Our database has an enormous number of food items. You may improve your search results by adding terms like "uncooked," "cooked," "raw" or "generic" (for instance "apple generic") if your initial search does not provide the specific item you are seeking.
Bonus Pro Tip: Create a Saved Meal or Recipe to join together items you normally eat together or are maybe too complex to search for every item each time you want to log.
