This article explains how MyFitnessPal can display your Dexcom G6 blood glucose readings by syncing with Google Health Connect. It covers how to connect the two apps, what data syncs, and how to read your glucose ranges.
Linking to Health Connect for Glucose syncing
Since this feature is made available through Google Health Connect, it is currently only available via the MyFitnessPal Android app.
You can link your MyFitnessPal account with Health Connect by tapping the More menu in the bottom right, then select either Glucose or Apps & Devices.
- Glucose: tap Link Health Connect, then Allow all permissions.
- Apps & Devices: scroll to Health Connect, tap it, then tap Connect. Allow all permissions when prompted. Learn how to link with Health Connect.
You’ll need to allow every permission for your glucose data to sync with MyFitnessPal.
Data that syncs from Dexcom G6 to MyFitnessPal
Your Dexcom G6 readings sync to Health Connect first, then to MyFitnessPal. This process can take up to three hours. Once synced, MyFitnessPal shows your glucose data on the Glucose screen under the More menu in the app.
- The Time tab shows your glucose level on a 24-hour graph.
- The Range tab shows how much of your day you spent in each glucose range.
*MyFitnessPal stores 30 days of glucose history.
Glucose data sync timing
Health Connect pulls new glucose readings from the Dexcom G6 app on a 3-hour delay. New data won't appear on your graph right away.
Once your data starts populating, syncing continues automatically without further delay.
Standard blood glucose ranges
The standard range shown under the Time and Range tabs follows the ADA's International Consensus Standard:
| Range | Value |
|---|---|
| Very Low | Below 54 mg/dL |
| Low | Below 70 mg/dL |
| In Range | 70–180 mg/dL |
| High | Above 180 mg/dL |
| Very High | Above 250 mg/dL |
Tap About range & standards in the app, or read the ADA's clinical guidelines for more detail.
Manually adding glucose data
Don't use a connected device? You can log glucose readings manually through Google Fit.
- Open Google Fit and go to Profile, then Settings.
- Tap Sync Fit with Health Connect.
- To add a reading, tap Browse, then Vitals, then Blood Glucose.
- Tap the + button and enter your glucose level.
