This article explains how to set up a meal plan, swap recipes you don't want, log meals from your plan to your diary, order your groceries, and change or delete a plan later.
What should I eat this week? It's the question that stalls people out at 5pm in front of an open fridge. Meal Planner answers it for you with balanced plans built around your goals, your favorite cuisines, how much time you actually have to cook, and the foods you'd rather skip. Macro counter, busy parent, or full-on foodie—the plan is yours.
Meal Planner is available to users with a Premium+ subscription in the following countries: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia. To access Meal Planner, you will need to have your device language set to English and be running app version 25.10.0 or higher. At this time, the Meal Planner is not available on our website.
Setting up your first Meal Plan
iOS
- Open the MyFitnessPal app and tap the More menu. If you do not have a More menu in your app, tap your Profile Icon in the upper right instead.
- Tap Meal Planner from the menu options.
- Tap Get Started, and answer the setup questions. Meal Planner asks about your goals, your challenges, your diet and cuisine preferences, how much time you have to cook, and any allergies, restrictions, or dislikes.
- Tap + Create Meal Plan.
Android
- Open the MyFitnessPal app and tap the Plan tab at the bottom of your screen.
- Tap Get Started, and answer the setup questions. Meal Planner asks about your goals, your challenges, your diet and cuisine preferences, how much time you have to cook, and any allergies, restrictions, or dislikes.
- Tap + Create Meal Plan.
At this point, you can choose when you want your plan to start, then pick your dates. Plans can run anywhere from 2 to 15 days. Check or uncheck the meal boxes for the days you chose. The boxes you leave checked are the meals Meal Planner will build recipes for. Review the recipes we picked for you. To trade one out, tap the Swap icon on that recipe.
You’ll also be able to check off the ingredients you already have in your pantry, then tap Next. Choose a grocery delivery or pickup service, or tap No Thanks to shop in store.
That's it. You'll land on your Plan screen, where you can see your whole plan and edit, swap, or log any meal in it.

Frequently asked questions
What diets are included in the Meal Planner?
Ten of them: balanced, low-carb, keto, paleo, Mediterranean, whole-food focus, vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, and flexitarian. You pick your approach during setup and can change it later in your plan settings.
Will Meal Planner work around my allergies and the foods I don't like?
Yes. Meal Planner asks about your allergies, restrictions, and dislikes during setup, then builds plans that leave those foods out. It also asks which cuisines you enjoy most, so your week tastes like something you'd actually choose.
Will Meal Planner change my current calorie and macro goals?
It might suggest different targets based on what you tell it during setup. You can follow the new recommendations or adjust them to match the goals you already have. Meal Planner currently supports plans of at least 1,200 calories for women and 1,500 calories for men.
Can I plan meals for my whole household?
Yes. Enter the number of people you're planning for during setup or in your plan settings. Meal Planner accounts for their cuisines, dislikes, allergies, and portion sizes, plus which meals they'll be sharing with you.
Why don't my Meal Planner foods have timestamps in my diary?
Meals logged from Meal Planner don't carry a timestamp automatically. You can add or edit the time yourself from your food diary.
