This article explains how to use Voice Logging to add foods to your diary by speaking on iOS and Android, what to say so you get the right result, and what you can and can't log with your voice.
Hands full? Voice Logging lets you say what you ate and get it into your diary. Talk to your phone the way you'd tell a friend about lunch, and MyFitnessPal does the searching for you.
Voice Logging is currently available for Premium users on iOS and Android with their language set to English, using app version 24.35.0 or higher. Voice logging is not available on the website.

What to say for the best results
You don't need a magic phrase. As long as you say the name of the food, you'll get a result. You'll get a closer match if you include three things:
- The food name
- How much you had
- The meal it belongs to
For example: "For breakfast, I had one cup of plain Greek yogurt, honey, and some blueberries."
What you can log with your voice
Voice Logging searches the same food database you'd search by typing. A few entry types aren't supported yet:
- Foods you saved under My Foods, My Recipes, or My Meals
- Quick Add entries
- Weight, exercise, and water
Frequently asked questions
Can I log more than one food at a time?
Yes. Say everything you ate in one go, like you would to a friend. Each food shows up as its own entry in your results, so you can adjust them one by one before logging.
The app heard the wrong food. What can I do?
Tap Try again and repeat your food, a little slower. Background noise and TV chatter can throw off the match, so a quieter spot helps. Naming the brand along with the food often gets you closer, too.
Can I edit or delete a food after it's in my diary?
Yes. Voice-logged foods behave like any other diary entry. Open your diary, tap the food, and change the details or delete it.
Does Voice Logging work offline?
No. Voice Logging needs a steady Wi-Fi or cellular connection to match what you said to a food. If your signal drops, you can still search for foods by name.
How do I share feedback about Voice Logging?
We'd love to hear it. Contact our support team through the request form or email support@myfitnesspal.com.
