This article explains why some exercises aren't in the MyFitnessPal database yet, and what you can do in the meantime.
Our exercise database is always under revision. Currently, most entries are for standard exercises whose calories are easily calculated with the right personal data, like your weight. Many popular workout styles combine a complex series of movements, so the calories burned vary greatly from person to person, which makes them harder to add.
Popular requests we're considering
- P90X
- Nia
- Xbox Kinect
- Jillian Michaels
- Bikram Yoga
We hope to add exercises like these once we've determined the best way to calculate calories burned.
What you can do in the meantime
- Use a similar exercise from our public database.
- Add a custom exercise to your personal database.
-
Try a Workout Routine, which combines strength and cardio exercises from a large database into a single logged workout.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I request a new exercise be added to the database?
You can submit a request to our support team, and they'll pass your suggestion along.
Will a custom exercise I add be as accurate as a database exercise?
It depends on the calorie value you enter. If you have a number from a heart rate monitor or other tracker, your custom exercise can be just as useful.
Is Workout Routines a good substitute for a missing group class or program?
It can be, especially for strength-based programs, since you can build a multi-exercise routine that matches your workout.
