This article explains what profanity is, why it is not allowed on MyFitnessPal, and how our profanity filter works. It also mentions that we use *kitten* to replace filtered words.
What is profanity?
Profanity includes any explicit, sexual, insulting, or vulgar language, as well as sexual innuendo, that would not be suitable in a professional or public setting. MyFitnessPal is an inclusive, workplace-friendly community. We do not allow or condone the use of profanity.
What does a profanity filter do?
A profanity filter is a type of content moderation tool. It uses software to automatically find and filter out profanity, replacing those words with a word we choose.
How does our profanity filter work?
If someone tries to use profanity or other filtered words in the MyFitnessPal community, the word will be replaced with *kitten*.
MyFitnessPal Staff are the sole arbitrators of what does and does not constitute as profanity in our community, as well as what words or phrases may be altered by our profanity filter. For more information on our language guidelines, please review our Community Guidelines. Please also be aware that attempting to circumvent our profanity filter through creative use of characters or innuendo is a breach of our Community Guidelines and will result in disciplinary action.
