This article explains the three types of posts in the MyFitnessPal Community: Discussions, Questions, and Ideas. It also shows you how to create a post on iOS, Android, and the website.
Nobody reaches their goals alone. The MyFitnessPal Community is full of people swapping high-protein breakfast ideas, cheering on first 5Ks, and talking each other through the 5 pm snack hour. Whether you want advice, a good conversation, or to share a feature suggestion, there’s a post type built for it.
| Post type | Best for | What makes it different |
|---|---|---|
| Discussion | Open conversations, sharing progress, or general topics | Replies appear in the order they’re posted |
| Question | Getting a specific answer | You can pick one reply as the Best Answer, which moves to the top |
| Idea | Suggesting a new feature or improvement to MyFitnessPal | Other members can upvote your Idea to show support. You can only post Ideas in the Feature Suggestions and Ideas Category |
Not sure which to pick? A Discussion is always a good place to start.
Every post includes a few key parts:
- Title: A short summary of your post. It appears in Recent Discussions and in your chosen category.
- Body: The main part of your post, like your question or the topic you want to talk about.
- Tags: Topic labels that help other members find your post through search.
- Mentions: Type @ followed by a member’s username to bring them into the conversation.
- Reactions: After you post, members can react with Insightful, Inspiring, Like, or Hug.

Can I add a photo to my post?
Yes. Photos are a great way to share a meal or celebrate a milestone. Learn how to add a photo to a forum post.
