Welcome to the MyFitnessPal Community! This article gives new members an overview of our Community Guidelines.
Here, you’ll find information about our community, how moderation and reporting work, details about groups, specific category rules, and other helpful community info.
We're so glad you're here!
Everyone on the MyFitnessPal team welcomes you to our site! MyFitnessPal members come from many backgrounds and from all over the world, but we all want to live healthier lives. To keep MyFitnessPal fun and friendly, we’ve set
community guidelines for everyone to follow.
Moderation and Reporting Posts
MyFitnessPal is overseen by a team of volunteers along with a few full-time site administrators. Since we have a small team, it's not feasible for us to read every post on the site, so we depend on our members to help us identify issues. If you notice a post that appears to violate our guidelines, you can assist us by using the “Flag > Report” button to inform us. One of our moderators will review the report as soon as possible and take appropriate action.
Groups
In addition to the Main Forums, MyFitnessPal has Groups with their own message boards. Each group chooses its own moderators, who make sure everyone follows both the group's and the site’s guidelines.
Our Main Forums and Groups operate under MyFitnessPal's community guidelines. We encourage you to review the guidelines thoroughly to ensure that anything you post meets our standards. Please remember to participate politely and constructively or refrain from posting altogether.
Some categories have specific rules, listed below.
Introduce Yourself and Getting Started:
These categories are for members to introduce themselves, greet others, get started, and connect with the community. Please be patient and supportive, and remember these spaces are meant for beginners and introductions.
Challenges:
To join discussions in this category, you should have a real interest in the challenge or a genuine question about it. Posts that question the value of a challenge are not allowed. Derogatory comments or trolling will result in a warning. If a challenge is popular or long-term, consider starting a new group.
Debate Club:
This forum category is for members to have civil discussions about controversial topics, such as sugar addiction and new and existing science or nutrition policies. The main goal is to give a space for debates on hot topics.
We ask that the main forums stay focused on helping the original poster with their questions, not on debating terms or details. For example, if someone asks for help with sugar addiction, please offer support instead of debating what addiction means. Not everyone wants to get into the details of the science. If you do, you can join these discussions or choose not to post.
To join this category, you should have a real interest in the topics, and all replies and debates must be respectful. If you're not interested, please don't post. Trolling or trying to start drama goes against our community guidelines. Trolling means making offensive or provocative posts to upset others or get an angry response (for example, "here's why following the 'xx' way of eating is stupid").
