This article explains how to use the MyFitnessPal Activity Feed and community features. You'll learn what the Activity Feed is, how to find it, how to make your profile private, how to use Groups for private chats, and how to find a friend's profile.

 
Your Activity Feed is the place to share your achievements, cheer on friends, and connect with other MyFitnessPal members.

What is an Activity Feed, and how do they work?

Your Activity Feed is your personal space in the MyFitnessPal community. You can post updates, share progress photos, or congratulate friends on their achievements. You can also see what others are doing and learn from their experiences. Whether you reach a new gym record or make healthier food choices, sharing your journey in the Activity Feed helps you celebrate your progress and encourage others.
 

To find your Activity Feed:

Apps:

  1. Open the MyFitnessPal app
  2. Tap More/Menu
  3. Scroll to Community
  4. Tap your profile photo in the upper right corner
  5. Select your profile photo again when it appears larger

How do I make my Community Profile private?


By default, your community profile and activity feed are public. We understand your health journey is personal, so if you prefer more privacy, you can set your profile to private.

 

Apps:

  1. Open the MyFitnessPal app
  2. Go to the More menu
  3. Scroll down to Community
  4. Tap your profile photo
  5. Then, tap the profile photo again, which will be slightly larger, and this will open up your profile
  6. Tap the purple button toward the top of the page with the icon of a person
  7. Tap Edit Profile
  8. Uncheck the box that says Display my Profile Publicly

  3. Click the Community tab
  4. Next, click your profile photo
  5. Then, select the profile photo again, which will be slightly larger, and this will open up your profile

How Do I Connect Only with Friends: Utilize Groups for Private Chats!

Looking to engage in meaningful conversations with your closest friends while maintaining a sense of privacy? MyFitnessPal's Groups feature has you covered! Create your own private group chats and enjoy high-quality discussions with the people who matter most.
 


How to Create a Private Group:

Apps:

  1. Open the MyFitnessPal app
  2. Tap on the More menu
  3. Scroll down and select Community
  4. Look for the menu with three horizontal lines in the top left corner and tap it
  5. Next, tap on Groups
  6. Tap the blue New Group icon in the top right corner
  7. Pick a name for your group and add a short description
  8. You can also add images, a circular icon, and a banner. The icon will be resized to fit, and the banner should be 1164 by 200 pixels or a similar ratio
  9. Next, choose whether your group will be Public or Private. Anyone can find and join a Public Group. Private Groups show up for everyone, but only members can see the content. To join a Private Group, people must apply or get an invitation. Users can search for Public Groups, but Private Groups do not appear in public searches
  10. When you finish setting up your group, tap Save

How do I find a friend?

There are two ways to locate your friend's profile.
 

  1. How to Find Your Friends' Profiles:

Apps:

  1. Open the MyFitnessPal app
  2. Tap on the More Menu
  3. Scroll down and select Community
  4. Go to any page where you chat with your friend
  5. Tap your friend's profile photo
  6. Then tap View Profile

  2. Log in to your account. If you use the mobile app, log in with the same email and password you use there
  3. Click Community
  4. Go to any page where you chat with your friend
  5. Click on your friend's profile photo
  6. Then on View Profile

 

2. Or go to this web address and add your friend's username to the end:

The second way is to type in this URL, and insert their username at the end, with no spaces, and no parentheses: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/profile/(YourFriendsUsernameHere)
