One effective way to capture a member’s attention is to tag them in a post. If the member has the notification setting ‘Notify me when people mention me’ enabled, they will receive a notification that they were tagged. Tags can also serve as a convenient method to identify a specific member you are discussing or to create a link to a member’s profile.
Tagging works by placing an @ symbol before the person’s username. Just ensure there is no space between the @ symbol and the username. Once you begin typing a username, a list of usernames will appear. You can also tag multiple people by separating their usernames with spaces—for instance, @user1 @user2 @user3, etc.
To adjust your notification preferences, follow these steps:
On the app:
- Select ‘More,’ then tap ‘Community.’ Once you’re in the community, tap your profile photo or user image in the upper right corner. Next, click the ‘bell icon’ and select ‘Notification Preferences.’ 'Notification Preferences’ are represented by three small horizontal sliding bars. Ensure that ‘Notify me when people mention me’ is checked.
On the Web:
- Click the ‘Community' tab at the top of the page. Then, click the ‘bell icon’ in the upper right corner and select ‘Notification Preferences.’ This icon appears in the upper right corner of the notification window and looks like three small horizontal bars. Ensure that ‘Notify me when people mention me’ is selected.
